My qualm with Marie Claire

Alright, let me preface this by saying: I love Marie Claire. Have for 10 years now. I've especially loved the "Splurge v. Steal" section, but lately, has anyone else noticed that their "steals" are not really steals at all? $400 for a pair of shoes? That's not quite a steal in my book.

So I took it upon myself to do my own version of splurge v. steal based on their August 2012 issue. I just did some quick finds that are great prices, readily available, etc. I do understand that you can mix and match, but still the cheapest outfit to put together from Marie Claire's steal section totals $288.88. The steals I have put together are much less, but still quality.

Marie Claire's Steal Outfit Totals:

#1: $318.90
#2: $969.00 (Really? Not a steal in my book)
#3: $689.98 (Also not a steal in my book)

My Version's Totals:

#1: $133.64
#2: $177.87
#3: $278.13 (I know it's close to the Marie Claire's cheapest outfit, but still more of a steal once mixed and matched)

My cheapest outfit put together totals: $96.28. In comparison to the $5,000 outfit they have chosen, seems like a better steal. Especially for us girls who are trying to spend less, but still stay trendy!

Anybody who wants specifics on what I have picked, feel free to leave a comment and I will get you the info. Also, feel free to comment on the "Splurge v. Steal" from Marie Claire and what you think of my picks.

**All these can be found on the web, with the exception of the H&M pants which you can view, but have to find in store.
